A Message From The President

The Tuscawilla Homeowners

Association is a treasure. Since it

was organized in 1971 it has kept a

watchful eye over our community.

Its purpose is to keep Tuscawilla a great place to live.

Through the years many dedicated community residents

have faithfully given their time, talent, and leadership to

this organization.

In September 2007 I was elected to the Board of Directors.

Over these past nineteen years I have served as a director,

secretary, second vice-president, first vice-president and

President. Before that I served for nine years as board

member, secretary and President of the Chelsea Woods

HOA. I believe community service is a privilege and

an important responsibility for every resident of our

community. The Tuscawilla community is comprised of

numerous small homeowners’ associations with the THOA

being the umbrella association.

In these past nineteen years I have enjoyed working with

many really wonderful and capable people. In my profession

as a pastor and denominational executive, my life has been

enriched by relationships. Through the years our board has

had its challenges and struggles, but the Board of Directors

has kept steadily moving forward in their purpose.

Last spring I asked my friend Alejandro Martinez, owner

of Stefano’s Restaurant, why after twelve years he decided

to sell. He told me that in the last year he seemed to lose

his joy and energy for his business and felt it wasn’t fair

to his employees and customers to not be at his very best.

It was time to move on. After nineteen years I have had a

similar feeling. It is time for me to pass the baton to the

next generation of community leaders. You are out there,

and maybe now is the time for you to step in and serve on

the Board.

On September 30th at the end of my nineteenth year serving

on the Board of Directors I decided to retire. This decision

has not come easily or suddenly, but I need to move on to

other responsibilities. My family and I love living here, and

we have felt fortunate to have found such a wonderful place

as Tuscawilla. I will continue to be involved in the life of our

community but not as a Board Member or as your president.

Blessings,

Kurt Miericke
